Every coral you plant:

  • Restores reef habitat with heat-resilient corals
  • Adds thousands of nursery-grown corals to boost biodiversity
  • Removes destructive Crown-of-Thorns starfish
  • Strengthens reef resilience with monitoring + 3D mapping
  • Supports marine protection in traditional tabu (no-take) zones
  • Trains and empowers local youth and elders

Sustainable Development Goals addressed by the project.

Seatrees evaluates this project annually to measure its impact on all relevant Sustainable Development Goals.

Our coral restoration work along Fiji’s Coral Coast goes beyond ecosystem repair, it’s a community-led, climate-resilient model that directly advances the UN Sustainable Development Goals. By working with Reef Explorer and local village leaders, the project integrates education, job creation, and biodiversity protection into every step of restoration.

No Poverty

By providing fair wages and skills training in coral restoration, the project creates meaningful jobs for community members — helping support local livelihoods and boost food security through healthier, fish-rich reefs.

Quality Education

Reef Explorer regularly hosts educational workshops and hands-on training for local youth and elders, deepening their knowledge of reef ecosystems, marine science, and sustainable resource management.

Life Below Water

This project actively protects and restores marine biodiversity by planting thermally tolerant coral species, removing invasive predators like Crown-of-Thorns Starfish, and safeguarding fish populations through community-managed marine protected areas. These efforts help strengthen reef resilience in the face of climate change.
