This Giving Tuesday, we’re giving our community the gift of a trip into a kelp forest--the kelp forest you’re helping us restore off of Palos Verdes, California. Thanks to the incredibly talented team at Backroads Pictures, you can take a deep dive into the folks who make this restoration possible.
You’ll meet Tom Ford, CEO of The Bay Foundation, who leads all the restoration and monitoring efforts across Southern California with his salty crew members–which includes Terry Herzik, a Commercial Urchin and Sea Cucumber Diver who actively restores the kelp forest off of Palos Verdes. Danni Washington, Science Communicator and SeaTrees Ambassador, joins in to remind us of the importance of telling positive, actionable stories to help protect and restore our planet.
Together with The Bay Foundation, we have successfully restored over 55 acres of giant kelp forest that had been decimated by a sea urchin population explosion. You can help support our continued efforts to restore the entire kelp forest at Palos Verdes, by restoring your own "kelp SeaTrees" on our website.
We’re also proud to premier this story on the WaterBear network. WaterBear is the first interactive streaming platform to use storytelling as a tool to make a difference. You can also check out the film on our SeaTrees program homepage at www.sea-trees.org.
