Coral in Focus

A Documentary by Samsung x Seatrees

Coral reefs are some of the most vibrant and essential ecosystems on our planet, but they’re disappearing at an alarming rate. Threatened by climate change, coastal development, and pollution, these underwater worlds could vanish entirely by the end of this century without urgent action.

Coral in Focus tells the story of a bold new approach to saving coral reefs - powered by innovation, community, and collaboration. This film follows the global partnership between Samsung, Seatrees, and leading marine scientists at the University of California San Diego and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, as they work with local communities to restore reefs in some of the most climate-vulnerable regions of the world.

Through breathtaking cinematography and powerful storytelling, Coral in Focus brings you beneath the surface to explore the coral restoration efforts in Indonesia, Fiji, and the Florida Keys - where science meets innovation and community action.

At the heart of the story is Ocean Mode, a new Samsung Galaxy camera feature built specifically for this initiative. Designed to work underwater, Ocean Mode enables local teams to capture professional-quality reef imagery and 3D photogrammetry models - transforming how we monitor reef health and measure the impact of restoration. This documentary reveals what’s possible when global innovation meets grassroots action, and why coral reef restoration is not only urgent, but achievable.
