Gift someone an #oceanpositive year by wiping out their carbon footprint! The perfect gift for the ocean lover in your life.
To do this, we'll plant mangrove trees in Mida Creek, Kenya, and protect a REDD+, VERRA and CCBA certified, "ridge to reef" watershed project in the Southern Cardamom Mountains in Cambodia - in order to wipe out the carbon footprint of your giftee.
For the USA, the estimated carbon footprint is based on direct energy use (electricity, natural gas), transportation (auto, air, public) and the embodied emissions from goods and services purchased throughout the year.
More info on the USA footprint calculations can be found here.
For other countries, the estimated carbon footprint is based on theannual per-capita footprintof each country (compiled by the International Energy Agency).
Instead of using an overly complex carbon calculator, we use the average footprint of your country/region as the best representation of someone's climate impact. This method is a more realistic estimate because it also includes indirect energy consumption of infrastructure and services.
If you feel that footprint of the person you are buying this gift for is significantly higher than average, then please use a reputable carbon calculator, such as this one from theUnited Nations, and then buy SeaTrees Tokens to wipe out the specific number of tons that you require.
Note: If your recipient doesn't receive a gift email, please have them check their "promotions" section.

Average Surfer (USA): In a 2011 survey conducted by Surf First and the Surfrider Foundation, the median distance traveled by surfers to go surfing was 10 miles one way, and the median number of times they surfed per year was 97 = 1,940 miles per year to surf.
Average American (USA): The average American drives approximately 15,000 miles per year according to the U.S Department of Transportation.

The second in the Mop Rides series! Surfer kid Mop and his friends are back in a quest to save the ocean with mindfulness, surfing, and a band.
Mop and his friends are back, this time with a band, The Coconut Heads. Mop is riding high from the lessons he’s learned about riding the waves of life: to breathe, ride the good waves, and let the bad waves go by. But just when he feels like he’s getting the hang of it, he notices a turtle tangled in plastic at the beach. Paddling out to catch a wave, he sees more plastic, and he can’t get rid of his anger. It seems like he’s back to square one. But after an epic wipeout, he has a realization: deep down, under the anger, is love. He loves the ocean, and he wants to help keep it clean.
But how? Let’s just say it involves some party waves and a benefit concert by the Coconut Heads–and it’s not just their parents who show up.
Celebrated San Francisco surfer-journalist-dad Jaimal Yogis teaches 4-8 year-olds timeless beach wisdom with the continuing story of Mop, a sensitive and fun-loving kid who just wants to be in the ocean.
With stylish full-color beachy illustrations from cover to cover by So-Cal surfer Matt Allen.

Restore Seagrass and Algae in Spain
Regular price
$5.00
With your support - we work with the MedGardens project of The Cleanwave Foundation to holistically restore the seagrass and macroalgae ecosystems surrounding the well-known tourist destination of Mallorca, in the Balearic Islands of Spain. Years of disruption caused by boat traffic and less than adequate boating guidelines have led to the destruction of these critical ecosystems, and with your support, we can bring them back and help them thrive for years to come. Each sq-ft of seagrass and algae you donate to restore contributes to the holistic restoration of this entire marine ecosystem, including:
planting of seagrass
growing macroalgae
removing marine debris
educating the local community and local boat captains
supporting local volunteer activations
conservation signage in tourist areas
monitoring and maintenance of restored seagrass meadows
The conservation of these ecosystems is vital to coastal protection, scientific research, medication, fishing, eco-tourism, and more. Read here for more information on the project you're supporting and here to learn more about MedGardens.

Restore Watershed in the Florida Keys
Regular price
$5.00
With your support, we are working alongside Coastloveto restore degraded dune ecosystems in the Florida Keys.
South Florida is home to diverse coastal ecosystems, including mangrove forests, coastal dunes, wetlands, and hardwood hammocks - all of which have been negatively affected by coastal development and storms in recent years. By restoring these coastal dunes, we can provide habitat for countless species, beautify cities and parks, increase storm protection, prevent coastal erosion, and increase carbon sequestration.
Phase 1 of this project involved restoring soil stabilization along the front beaches. We are now at Phase 2, which involves restoring the inner parts of the island with trees that historically filled the area, such as Buttonwoods, Gumbo Limbos, Sea Grapes and mangroves.
With your support, we will plant and restore this critical watershed while also educating the local community and youth about restoration through hands-on involvement, in-turn promoting lifelong stewardship.
