Announcing - The Biodiversty Game!
As delegates from around the world arrive in Colombia for the COP16 Biodiversity Conference in October, they will be greeted at the front entrance by a 21-foot-tall "Biodiversity Jenga" art installation from internationally acclaimed artist, Benjamin Von Wong — symbolizing the perilous balancing game we have been playing between human activity and the accelerating loss of Nature's rich Biodiversity.
Each "block" in the towering monument represents one of the Earth's unique ecosystems including: kelp forests, coral reefs, mangrove forests, grasslands and even deserts — with custom aquariums and terrariums decorated by local nonprofits and schools, that feature the plants and animals that make up the rich Biodiversity typically found within each ecosystem.
But unlike a typical game of Jenga (one of the world's most popular games played in 172 countries), where blocks are pulled out, and the tower is destabilized until collapsing –the goal of the Biodiversity Game is to push ecosystem "blocks" back into place in Nature's tower, to rebalance it and ensure its ability to continue supporting all life on the planet.
Restoring and protecting ecosystems is one key method of re-stabilizing the 'Biodiversity Jenga' tower and there is still time to do it — but only if we start acting now !
As an official "Actor" in the UN's Decade of Ecosystems Restoration program — SeaTrees will be launching the world's first commercial marine biodiversity credits in conjunction with the unveiling of the 'Biodiversity Jenga' art installation — in alignment with COP16's mission to secure global commitments for biodiversity.
