Dive into our New SeaTrees Film: Seeding the Future

In the coastal town of Cascais, Portugal, a team of innovators, scientists, and ocean lovers are on a mission to restore one of the planet’s most vital ecosystems: kelp forests. These underwater giants play a crucial role in boosting biodiversity, regulating global climate, supporting local fishing economies, and protecting coastal communities from storm damage.

Dive into our latest film where we catch up with SeaTrees project partners, SeaForester, to help regrow wild kelp forests using an innovative technique called "Green Gravel." Led by Jan Verbeek, the team is pioneering scalable solutions to regenerate kelp forests that have been lost due to marine heat waves, pollution, and overdevelopment.

Join professional surfer and climate activist Miguel Blanco as he visits SeaForester's lab to learn about their cutting-edge techniques and participate in one of their first kelp planting deployments.

Kelp forests store carbon, support thousands of marine species, and act as biodiversity hotspots. With 1/3 of greenhouse gases now attributed to habitat destruction, restoring these ecosystems is more critical than ever.
