We’re proud to share this new Mongabay article featuring our groundbreaking marine biodiversity credit project in Kenya. As one of the first of its kind in the world, this project is a powerful example of how restoring mangroves can uplift both ecosystems and local communities.
This article highlights our first-ever Seatrees+Biodiversity project, our most advanced restoration offering, built for the global biodiversity marketplace. It goes far beyond planting trees by delivering real, measurable biodiversity impact that supports ecosystems, communities, and science.
As the world’s leading marine biodiversity credit, Seatrees+Biodiversity helps restore critical ecosystems like mangroves that aren’t supported by traditional carbon markets. Backed by rigorous, transparent science, we track and reward actions that restore biodiversity, and we call these units Biodiversity Blocks.
Each Block funds the planting of one mangrove tree in Marereni, Kenya, along with 10 years of protection, monitoring, and local employment to measure ecological and social benefits.
You can help scale this groundbreaking work and get your own Biodiversity Block today at seatrees.org.
