There are moments in partnership work when you realize something has truly scaled. Galaxy Unpacked was one of those moments for us.
This year, Seatrees was honored to be featured at Galaxy Unpacked, where Samsung spotlighted our partnership and the shared work we’ve been building together to support ocean conservation through technology.
At the heart of that moment was a major milestone — Ocean Mode is officially being made public. For our team and our partners on the ground, this was the moment we’ve been waiting for.
Ocean Conservation on a Global Stage
During the event, Samsung dedicated a segment to showcasing how Ocean Mode was developed in collaboration with Seatrees and marine scientists to meet the real-world needs of coral restoration and reef monitoring. The presentation highlighted how traditional camera settings fall short underwater — and why a purpose-built solution was needed to accurately capture life beneath the surface.
Footage from Seatrees-supported coral restoration projects brought this story to life, showing how Ocean Mode is already being used by local restoration teams to document reef structure, monitor progress, and tell more accurate stories about ocean recovery. What was once a behind-the-scenes tool used within active restoration sites is now being shared with the world.
From Pilot Tool to Public Impact
Ocean Mode was created to solve a specific challenge: how to make underwater imagery clearer, more accurate, and more useful for science and restoration — using a device people already have in their hands.
Until now, Ocean Mode has been used directly within Seatrees projects, supporting coral gardeners, scientists, and community teams working to restore reefs on the front lines. Making Ocean Mode publicly available marks a turning point, expanding access to tools that can help more people document ocean ecosystems and better understand what’s at stake.
Galaxy Unpacked marked the moment when this work moved from targeted deployment to global visibility.
A Partnership Built for Purpose
Being featured at Galaxy Unpacked wasn’t just about technology — it was about partnership.
Together, Seatrees and Samsung are demonstrating what’s possible when innovation is guided by environmental purpose. By combining Samsung’s mobile technology with Seatrees’ on-the-ground restoration network, this collaboration supports local communities, advances restoration science, and helps scale solutions for threatened marine ecosystems.
Ocean Mode is one example of how that partnership shows up in the real world — bridging storytelling, data collection, and conservation impact in a way that’s accessible and scalable.
Looking Ahead
Seeing Seatrees’ work featured on one of the world’s biggest technology stages was both humbling and energizing. It reflects years of collaboration — and signals what’s possible as Ocean Mode reaches more hands, more places, and more reefs around the world.
Galaxy Unpacked wasn’t just a product launch. It was a moment of momentum for ocean conservation — and we’re proud to continue this journey alongside Samsung.
