I spoke at my first Rotary Club in the summer of 2024. It was a breakfast meeting in Del Mar, near the fair grounds and not far from the ocean. I learned about the Four-Way Test and Happy Bucks. I met really nice people dedicated to doing good in their community. The club even made a donation to support Seatrees, which I wasn’t expecting. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was eager to do it again.
It wasn’t until the following summer that I’d speak at another Rotary Club, this time at dinner club in Palos Verdes. After my presentation, I connected with a Rotarian and diver named David who asked if he could share my information with other clubs in the Los Angeles area. Naturally, I said yes. Little did I know this would jump start my tour of Rotary Clubs in the region.
This year, I spoke at eight Rotary Clubs all over the city. I now know the Four-Way Test by heart and I’m the proud owner of a Unite for Good rotary pin and several mugs. Some of my favorite memories include speaking at the beautiful Beverly Hills Hotel, the view from San Pedro Elks Lodge, being serenaded by the San Pedro Club, and all the Rotarians I met along the way.
My Rotary Club tour reaffirmed my faith in humanity. If more people would become Rotarians and give back to their community the world would be a much better place. Thank you to the Rotary Club and all the Rotarians for hosting Seatrees and all the good work you do for our ocean planet.
