Our new Seatrees Spring Fling (sea urchin-dyed) beanie isn’t just your favorite new companion, it’s the most stylish way yet to support the restoration of California’s kelp forests!
Each custom-knitted, lightweight wool beanie is naturally hand-dyed using the spines of purple sea urchins removed from degraded kelp forests in Northern California - turning an ecological disaster into a positive solution.
Every one of these super limited-edition Spring Fling beanies supports the efforts of our restoration pals at P.U.R.P. (Purple Urchin Removal Project) by helping fund two free scuba air-tank refills for volunteer divers working to restore kelp forests. These divers remove (a.k.a. "fling") the overpopulation of purple sea urchins, which have destroyed 95% of Northern California’s historical kelp forest ecosystems.
So keep your head warm while looking cool in one of these one-of-a-kind, cherry-blossom-pink beanies, and help bring California’s kelp forests back this spring - one fling at a time.
But hurry! We only made eight Spring Fling beanies in collaboration with our artist pal Margaret Seelie of Seelie Studios - so grab one fast before the spring wind blows this opportunity away!
